W.A.S.P (Work And Study Programme)

Employers could “sponsor” students on appropriate courses, by employing them, on national minimum wage for their age, for (up to) 10 hours a week (flexi) during term time and (up to) full-time hours during the holidays, the hours to be negotiated on an individual basis. In return for offering this opportunity and income stream to students, employers would be rewarded by having well-informed employees, who might be able to contribute to staff training programmes by giving presentations or instigating group work with other staff. Students would gain by improved finances, experience in their chosen industry and acquisition of appropriate references.
