Stop scraping the surface
This idea is based on the assumption that we all know is true: People love talking about their work. Napier proved over time that its current work-placement scheme, where students intern in companies as part of their course, is effective. However, it would be more rewarding if students were assigned to specific professionals rather than entire companies. In reality, interns often ping-pong across departments and do not get the chance to learn any single aspect of the practice in its real depth. Teaming students with individual mentors would imitate the substance of apprenticeship – handing personal experience down to the new generation.
