The first thing an employer sees of a candidate is a cover letter and CV, so making the right impression in the text is paramount! The information needed in CVs and cover letters can vary depending on the employment sector that is being targeted, so how do you know if you have created a CV that is tailored to the sector you are applying for? This idea is to create a software package that offers a variety of different templates for CVs and cover letter designs depending on the job that is being applied for. On entering job information, text boxes stating the field that should be used and useful hints for information to be included will be presented. Once all the text boxes have been filled in, the software will generate a CV with the required look for the job sector chosen. In addition, the cover letter will go through a similar process to that of the CV and useful online tips will appear during its creation. The completed CV and/or coversheet will then automatically be sent to the Edinburgh Napier CV doctor for analysis, giving the best chance of producing the best CV possible.
