Breaktime Breakthrough

Employers are swamped with applications for advertised vacancies in the current job market, most will ask for experience on top of qualifications, this seems the hardest thing for recent graduates to achieve.

Breaktime breakthrough would be a scheme where the University would match students to employers for short periods during holiday periods inbetween term times

Students would gain periods of industry relevant experience which would assist building work experience, building network contacts. Employers would gain from project tasks being carried out at no cost, which would also assist putting study into practice.

If napier could trial this for a handful of courses and make it an integrated part of the course content, this would increase confidence from employers that students were leaving university with practical experience to accompany the academic studies.
